Raised in the Berner Oberland, Christina Zurbruegg came to Vienna after a long stay in South America and studied acting and classical singing. She became well known with her music theatre productions about the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca. Zurbruegg studied and played folk music, shot the documentary film «Orvuse on Oanwe» about Viennaʼs last yodelers and rediscovered her own roots in the process. Christina Zurbruegg can look back on 15 music albums so far, including her award-winning solo program «Christlʼs Wunderwelt». The film «Bleiben oder Gehen» (Staying/Leaving) by zurbruegg & hudecek is awarded the «Goldener Drache», her song album «jetzt» is reviewed as a first-class pop-musical work between tradition and modernity and the film «Halbzeit» (Half- Time) is nominated for the «Golden Rose 2009». The CD «The Heart is an Eternal Wanderer» has just been released (2022)
I was born in Vienna in 1961 and have been making music since my youth. In 1981 I started working in film and ended up in film editing, which I have been teaching at the Vienna Film Academy since 2009. I worked on music videos of pop stars like Falco, Queen, Gianna Nannini, Tina Turner and founded the film editing studio OFFLINE in 1992 and in 2001 together with Christina Zurbrügg the film and music production GAMSfilm. In 2009 our film ``Halbzeit`` was nominated for the ``Rose d' Or``. I was awarded the ``Goldener Kader“ 1994 (Austrian Film Award) for editing ``Das Auge des Teifun by Paulus Manker and the ``European Film Award`` (2005) for editing „Hidden“ by Michael Haneke and directed the music documentary ``Stimmen Stimmen Gegenstimmen``, which premiered in 2014 at the Diagonale-Filmfestival in Graz.
